Still on Schedule
05/09/2001 - The construction of the Shania Twain Centre is on schedule and the opening is still scheduled for June 30 says Jack Watson, operations manager for the Timmins Underground Gold Mine Tour and the Shania Twain Centre. The on-site work has been progressing and the new access road and parking lot should be completed within the next few weeks.
"We are cutting it close to the opening day but we are trying to have the centre as perfect as we can by (June 30)", stated Watson. "There has been a tremendous amount of work done already in a short period of time."
Watson met with Lord's Cultural Resources, planning and management, last week to discuss the exhibits and finalize some of the details. The exhibits will be on-site within the last 10 days of construction.
"We set some guidelines with respect to the exhibits and we did have to shorten the time period that we are allowing the consultants to install the exhibits. However, we firmly believe it will all be in place for the opening," he said.
The opening is scheduled for June 30 at 11:00 a.m. Watson said that he is unable to provide any details as to the opening festivities until all the details have been finalized. Information on the official celebration will be released by May 18.
