 Shania Centre This Way
06/15/2001 - A series of new signs providing directions to the Shania Twain Centre and the Timmins Gold Mine Tour are being erected in Timmins and area.
A huge direction sign is the first thing travellers will see when entering the city proper from the east. Its just past the light at the junction of Highway 655 and Algonquin Boulevard, Lornes Esso. On it are directions a child could follow Left At Next Light. The thoughtful planners even included a phone number, 360-8500, so the truly road weary and befuddled can call for assistance by phone.
Taking that 'Next Left' leads clearly and simply to the new road turning into the Hollinger Golf Course just before Second Avenue, leading through its beautifully landscaped course. This turn off will also soon be clearly marked by a sign six-metres wide and two-metres tall.
The Algonquin billboard, which went up about 10 days ago is part of a signage blitz, to be completed next week, that will lead tourists unerringly to the centre, regardless of which route people take to Timmins.
